Feature and Follow (6)

Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

Question: What is the BIGGEST word you've seen used in a book lately - that made you stop and look it up? Might as well leave the definition & book too.

Answer: Uhhh....Let me think about this for a second. The biggest word I've seen that I remember, is the word sarantraas from Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. You'll have to excuse the spelling because I'm way to lazy to go get my Kindle and find the word. xD At first, I thought sarantraas was a real word but I soon figured out that it was a made up word by the author of the story. In Seraphina, sarantraas is a dragon's human form.

  1. I swear the made up words are the hardest words!! it's like.. you aren't sure if you should know it and then when you find out it's made up you are a little mad that you bothered to try to find out what it means!! sheesh! here is my word: Angela's Anxious Life

  2. Sarantrass does sound like a made up word! I'd love to read the book to find out more about it. ;)

It would be great if you could stop by my Feature and Follow Friday post. We have have a Night Of The Purple Moon giveaway going on. Come along and participate if you like! :)

  3. The made up words sometimes get me too. Sarantrass would have certainly confused me. The word I had to look up was from David Mitchell's novel Cloud Atlas. Check it out here

  4. Great answer! I get annoyed with made up words unless it's totally obvious what it means in the context.
