I usually stick to reading books from the
YA genre, but once in a while I'll delve into a New Adult or Middle Grade book.
For example, the Percy Jackson series. Because we all know that you can never
be too old to read about his crazy adventures and badass friends. xD My interests in the YA genre
are Paranormal, Mythology, Fantasy, Dystopian (In preference order), and a few Sci Fi novels here and
there if I hear a lot of great things about them. The only books that I usually
avoid are those of the Contemporary genre, which for some reason, bore me to
tears no matter how hyped up they are. I also tend to stay away from those of the ghost/zombie variety. There's
just something about them....that scares the crap out of me. Other than that,
I'm a pretty eclectic reader and not afraid to try new things!
When I'm not reading, you can find me at the movies (No doubt obsessing over the newest book to movie adaption), baking yummy foods (I have a sweet tooth, but really, don't we all?), or attempting to make something cool in graphic design. Sadly, I'm still a newbie and usually epically fail at it. Now that I've bored you with my entire life story, have a great day! And feel free to contact me at foreverfree50@gmail.com if you have any questions or advice to share. :D
Favorite Books: (Updated: 9/6/14)
Hi Daphne! I just clicked onto your blog and I'm really loving it so far - it's so pretty! I was really shocked when I found out that you've only been using this blog since August. I would've thought it'd be a year or two by the amount of followers you have. I'm 14 (it's good to FINALLY see another teenage reviewer) and I started my own blog like, in November, but it only has about 7 followers so far. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI completely get what you mean! I get so hyper when I talk about books and all my friends just stare at me like, 'I'm worried for her mental health.' Lol.
The Teen Reader :)
Awww thank you! :D And yeah it's hard to come across teenage bloggers nowadays, but don't worry, there out there! A great way to promote your blog would be to join in on popular memes and comment on other blogs! They usually comment or follow back. :)
DeleteHey, there. I'm happy to find this blog of yours. I was searching for reviews of The Darkest Minds and I clicked on your link (thank Google for that) and I immediately recognized the Oblivion reference. I have to say, your blog looks amazing, especially since you just started not long ago. I also don't have a lot of friends that love books as much as I do, so I know how you feel. It makes me happy that you have the guts to put your opinion out there. Looking forward to reading your reviews. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad I could be of help! The Darkest Minds was one of my fave books; hope you enjoyed it as well! :D
DeleteNominated you for Liebster award because you are my new favorite blog!

Hi i love your blog :) I was wondering how you get the book countdown bars that are underneath your challenges buttons? I have seen them before but haven't worked out how to get them they look great.
ReplyDeleteJodie @ Aussie Bookworm
It took me forever to figure out how to get them too. xD Just go to this website: Critique Circle, fill everything out, and plug in the HTML code into wherever you want it to go! :)
DeleteHi, I love your blog! I tried making my own blog then realized it looked exactly like yours so I deleted it. I was hoping that you could help me make my blog my own. I am only 13 so I would love for you to help me if you can!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you so much! And don't delete it. It may look a bit like mine in the beginning, but it'll definitely change depending on your style. :P I would love to help you make your blog, just shoot me an email and ask away.
DeleteHow did you get the cool picture at the top? Did you make it yourselves.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I took that picture myself using my non-existent photography skills. xD After that, I just used a Text adder online and added some words.

ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite book/series ever?
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly a hard question to answer! Hmm. It really just depends on what sort of reading mood I'm in. At the moment, I'd probably have to say either the Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo or the Angelfall series by Susan Ee. There both freaking amazing series. I'm drooling from just thinking about them.
ReplyDeleteI found you blog about a month ago. And I must say, your blog is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou innspired me to make my own. And I have to thank you for that. THANK YOU!!!!
But I have a question; On your pages your links are also coloured. How do you do that?
Thanks
Greetz,
Steffi
Thank you for reading it! It's awesome to hear that you started your own. Can't wait to check out your reviews. :) As for your question, to change link colors just go to Template > Customize > Advanced > Links.
DeleteThanks! but
DeleteI already changed that one, but the links on the pages don't appear in the color I've chosen. :( I don't know why, because the other links are in that color.
Huh, that's really weird. I assume you're talking about the Amazon and Barnes and Noble links? Mine automatically follows the link colors I put in. How exactly do you put a link into your post? :o
DeleteYep, they are the one I mean. The links I make myself in the pages and posts.
DeleteI select a word, press link in the menu above, then I copy past the link there and I press enter.
I just tried it that way, and it worked fine. =/ Not really sure what the problem is. Sorry that I couldn't have been of more help. :(
DeleteDoesn't matter, I'm happy you tried. Maybe I'll find the awnser sometime. Maybe not .
DeleteThanks!
I really need books to read. I have gone on Goodreads and a lot of other sites, but I have read almost all of the books there. I read really fast for my age(13), like a book per night. I like everything you like. some of my favorites are Percy Jackson series, Throne of Glass, Elemental Assassin series, Touch of Frost series, The Selection, and Ranger Apprentice series. Any suggestions besides reading slower?
ReplyDeleteShadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo, Angelfall series by Susan Ee, Whirl series by Emma Raveling, Graceling by Kristin Cashore, Touch series by Jus Accardo, all of Samantha Young's young adult series (Moon Spell, Smokeless Fire, Blood Will Tell) just to name a few. xD
DeleteAlso I am trying to get a blog going on too. What advice can you give me about writing, creating the blog itself, and anything else you can add?
ReplyDeleteSome advice I would give about meeting bloggers is taking part in memes like Waiting On Wednesday, Teaser Tuesdays, Feature and Follow Fridays. Lots of great people to talk to, plus you might get some new followers as well. Once you've finished tweaking your blog and start doing blitzes/tours/blasts, I would keep some sort of planner to mark down all the days you have something to post. At times, authors want their promo posts to be the top post of the day and you want to make sure that it doesn't clash with anything else. When I first started, I registered for way too many things and ended up messing things up. xD As for creating a blog, I'd say to look around for some cool widgets to put on the sidebars. Grabs the reader's eye and, of course, makes your blog look pretty. :D
DeleteHey, can you give me any advice on how to write a review, like how much backround information, what to write and mention in my review, and things like that?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love that your back, I have missed your reviews!!
It depends on your style really. Some bloggers enjoy writing about the actual events that take place in the story and make their own form of a synopsis. Those are usually around 1-2 paragraphs. However, I have a real difficulty with that for some reason, so I usually just skip it altogether. Mostly, I focus on the characters, the amount of action, the romance, the setting that sort of stuff. Usually a paragraph on each; sometimes 2 when it comes to the characters, since I put a lot of emphasis on protagonists. I think those are the main points bloggers mention in their reviews. Quotes are also great to add to drive across your point. It'll definitely get easier the more reviews you write. The first few reviews I wrote took me hours, but now it's a constant ramble in my head. So don't get discouraged! Thank you for the welcome. :) I'm hoping I can keep it up!
DeleteI love the Eve trilogy and the Under The Never Sky trilogy, both dystopian. Strong heroines who endure trials but only grow stronger. You should read them if you haven't.
