Feature and Follow (12)

Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

Question: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

Answer: Ehhhhh it depends. If it's exactly the same plot as some major selling novel *cough cough Twilight*, it defeats the purpose of reading the book in the first place. Who wants to read a novel, when you already know what's going to happen? Similar concepts and backgrounds I don't mind at all, but uniquely themed books like The Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor or Poison Princess by Kresley Cole are more likely to catch my attention.

I've never tried reading fanfiction before....I know my friend is absolutely obsessed with her Kpop fanfic *Exasperated sigh*, but that's probably one of the only times I've ever heard of it.

  5. I know what you mean! And I totally agree! I haven't read much of re-tellings of fan-fiction.Though Twilight did start my love YA so I do enjoy some of the similar concept books! :) Though I love when they have a uniqueness about them! :)

  7. OMG, Kpop fanfic. I have to admit, I don't understand fanfic based on the lives of real people. I don't mind fanfic based on books/movies, but based on celebrities? I don't see the appeal.
